Nell’antico quartiere arabo di Palermo sorge il monumento la Kalesa (in
arabo “l’eletta”), nome che riconduce all’affisso - “Della kalesa” -
scelto da Stefano Dallara e Pippo Saieva per il loro allevamento
amatoriale di cocker spaniel inglesi, nato trent’anni fa nel segno
dell’entusiasmo e sostenuto nel tempo dalla passione e dalla maturata
esperienza. Un impegno che guarda non alla casuale, meccanica e copiosa
riproduzione di cani, ma ad una attenta, curata, anche se non sempre
numerosa crescita di qualificati soggetti, sistematicamente testati per
le malattie ereditarie. La bontà di questo atteggiamento pare
testimoniata dai lusinghieri successi conseguiti in numerose esposizioni
italiane ed estere, ottenuti anche grazie alla collaborazione dell’amica
Angela Francini, che ha condotto gli esemplari in ring d’Europa,
d’Italia e in prove di lavoro. Sul territorio palermitano, in località
Carini, ampi e comodi spazi, accolgono gli esemplari di cocker inglesi
che presentano nel loro pedigree le più prestigiose linee di sangue e,
per quindici anni, anche quelli americani, intensamente voluti da Pippo,
che ne è divenuto, quindi, il primo allevatore in Sicilia. Su questi
cocker soffia un respiro che profuma di agrumi, di mare, che
ingentilisce e anima anche l’attività di coloro che, con gli animali,
hanno scelto di condividere la loro vita.
In the old Palermo Arabian quarter rises Kalesa monument (in Arabian "the
elected"), name that brings back to the affix "Della Kalesa"- chosen by
Stefano Dallara and Pippo Saieva for their English Cocker Spaniel starter
kennel. Born thirty years ago under enthusiastic sign they were supported,
during the time by the passion and by experience. Care that is second to
none, mechanics and plentiful dog reproduction but that aims to a careful,
polished, even if not always healthy growth of qualified subjects,
systematically tested for hereditary breed pathologies. The goodness of this
attitude is proved from the flattering success achieved in numerous Italian
and foreign dog shows and in work trail. Near Palermo, placed in Carini,
great and comfortable spaces, accommodated our English cockers that have in
their pedigrees more prestigious blood lines and, for fifteen years, also
American cockers, deeply wanted by Pippo, that became the first American
cocker breeder in Sicily. On these cockers blows a breath that smells like
citrus and the sea, that refines and animates also the activity of who, with
animals, decided to share their life.
